Department Profile
The Department of Chemistry was established in 1966 with the intention of providing science education to needy students from the rural background who wished to pursue further education. The Department of Chemistry in the Undergraduate level, B.Sc. was started in the year 1982 with PCM and subsequently CBZ combination was added. The department has procured Basic Infrastructure and Modern Electrical and Electronic Equipments like Digital Potentiometer, Digital colorimeter, Digital pH meter, Digital electronic Balance, Abbe’s Refractometer, Conductivity bridges, Digital conductivity meter, De-ionizer etc. The department has procured sufficient chemicals and is well equipped with all types of glass apparatus such as Burettes, Pipettes, Beakers, Conical flasks and other glassware. The total cost of the Equipment and Chemicals of the department is worth around Rs.20 Lakhs.
Future Plans1. To constitute Chemical society to associate with other Research Institutes. 2. To start P.G. course and to take up research works in college level. 3. To arrange National level Seminars/conferences on recent areas of Chemistry which enables teachers and also students to expose themselves to understand Innovatives in chemistry.
1. We are teaching for the first generation students from rural; Mandya District. 2. Teaching has been bilingual. Proper informations are being given through appropriate Charts, Models and Equipments. 3. Discussions and consultation is being given outside the class room. 4. Seminars have been conducted by students which help them in understanding teaching and facilitates easy learning. 5. Special coaching is also being given to slow learners. 6. Syllabus would be completed within the stipulated period. 7. We are providing practical procedure charts which enables students in understanding the method of conducting experiments. 8. Periodical tests and assignments are also conducted which help Students to prepare them for final examination. 9. Previous examination question papers, model answers and question banks are supplied to students to excel better performance in examinations.
