Vision
Humanity is synonymous to compassion sympathy and tolerance and has significant historical elements. To probe experience and understand this in the fields of learning like literature, philosophy, sociology, economics and history is the primary function of the humanities.

Mission
The departments in the stream of humanities are a mixture of young and experienced teachers committed to both academic and co-curricular activities. Student centric programmes are the focus of the faculty.

History
The Department of Economics was established in the academic year 1976 at PES college of Science, Mandya with the intention of providing education to the rural background needy students who want to pursue their further education for M.A., B.Ed., programme or for any other related professional degrees.
The course is designed by the University of Mysore to impart the required knowledge and skill to the students in the field of Humanities  with an aim of providing practical thrust to the course, designed by the university in every paper during the curriculum which spreads over 6 semesters.  This would enhance the knowledge of students in the required area of specialization so that they match the requirements of the employment opportunities in competitive entrance examinations to pursue higher education suitable enough for business needs.  The course also throws light on the area of computer fundamental education suitable enough for day to day needs.
