VisionHumanity is synonymous to compassion sympathy and tolerance and has significant historical elements. To probe experience and understand this in the fields of learning like literature, philosophy, sociology, economics and history is the primary function of the humanities.MissionThe departments in the stream of humanities are a mixture of young and experienced teachers committed to both academic and co-curricular activities. Student centric programmes are the focus of the faculty.HistoryEnglish language is a compulsory subject in all the degree courses. The English department eversince its inception had faculty who were involved in co-curricular activities also. Sri C K Rajappa and Sri J Veeregowda were popular teachers. Sri V K Janardhana Iyengar who later headed the department was a poet and a well known photographer. He was a part of the photography unit for the film ‘School Master’ a classic film in Kannada. Later Sri Narayanshetty, a well known short story writer headed the department and was assisted by Sri B Suresh Holla and Sri N L Muralidhara, Sri Mohan Raj, Dr. Anilkumar H, P Chandrashekar and Smt Jyotsna Anilkumar. The department at present has three management employees in Smt. L Archanashree, S Ashwini and S K Lavanya. The department began English optional in the year 1994 and has had very bright and successful students who have been selected as teachers and as administrators.
